Uncirculated FDC - EXTREMELY RARE - 1921 Type 12 Square Penny, composition: Copper Nickel, Obv: Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal - between 1919 and 1921, Melbourne mint began testing to introduce uniquely Australian, lighter & more suitable coinage. A number of Patterns were developed each with uniquely designed effigies and representations of the Australian Kookaburra, totalling approximately 200 Kookaburra Pennies known to exist. With some designs being far more difficult to procure than others, the Kookaburra Penny may be considered on par with the 1813 Holey Dollar or 1852 Adelaide Pound in terms of Rarity!
