1994 Masterpieces in Silver - The Explorers Silver Proof 5 Coin Set
Australian Masterpieces in Silver

Beginning in 1988, the Masterpieces in Silver series was produced until 2011 in Canberra. This long running coin series is dedicated to Australian events, themes and famous persons that have helped to shape Australia as a nation. Each coin has a $5 denomination and celebrates Early Explorers of Australia. Vladimir Gottwald designed all five coins and sculpted the reverse design of John McDoual Stuart and Douglas Mawson. Charles Sturt, Ludwig Leichhardt and Sir John Forrest were sculpted by Wojciech Pietranik.
